Humpback calf -
This sculpture represents the relationship between a young Humpback calf and its mother, as the calf learns to make its way through the ocean world by its mother’s side. The base of the sculpture is the wing of the mother, with the calf tentatively gliding over it. The small size of this piece allows it to be cast in sold bronze, rather than hollow, which gives it a satisfying weight and heft. If you happen to be a Pink Floyd fan, the name came to me while I was working on the sculpture, listening to their song of the same name.
